FAQ
Is Tolton Asset Management a fiduciary?
Yes. As an RIA, we have a fiduciary responsibility to our clients, meaning that we act entirely on our clients' behalf and in their best interests.
How can I contact you?
Feel free to use the form on this website (on the “Contact Us” page) or to email us directly at service@toltonam.com.
What happens if I want to leave?
There is no lock-out period. Clients are free to leave whenever they wish without any fee or holding period.
How much experience do you have?
We have experience as investment advisers since 1992. Outside of investment advising, we have years of experience in tax accounting and planning, financial consulting, trading, and academic research.
Does Tolton Asset Management provide financial planning or other financial services?
Tolton Asset Management provides tax and tax planning services through Justin C. Tolton, CPA. By combining tax and advisory services, we can take advantage of efficiencies between the two and provide a greater level of service to you at a bundled cost.
Do you do time the market or provide tactical asset allocation?
Decades of previous research has demonstrated that market timing and tactical asset allocation provide consistently lower returns after taxes and fees than a passively managed, market-based approach. The additional cost to the client that is required to attempt to time the market consistently wipes out any additional gains that it may result in. In order to provide the best service for our clients in meeting their investment needs and goals, we provide passive portfolio management, thereby lowering their investment fees as well as their complicated tax return fees!
Does Tolton Asset Management receive commissions or kickbacks from brokerage companies?
No. We are a fee-based only shop that does not rely or receive commissions or fees from any sources other than our clients. This ensures that we have the clients' objectives as our only objective in giving financial advice.
What brokerage firm do you use?
Our clients keep assets at Charles Schwab, both discount brokers that allow us to provide flexibility in service at the lowest possible cost. We do not take custody of client assets, and the brokerage accounts are insured by the SIPC and additional insurance provided by Interactive Brokers.
What happens once I am a client?
We will provide guidance on account opening and transfer your account for you. We will review your current holdings, discussing your investment needs and goals, and recommend and implement an investment plan that suits your needs. We are also available to answer investment and account related questions any time you need.
